Certified Humane

As you know, Good Earth Beauty is a natural shop that sells only products that are not tested on animals.  Personally, I am also very interested in where my food comes, particularly meat and dairy.  There is an organization known as "certified humane" that I am pleased to say does a lot of good in helping consumers make wise choices.  If you see the "certified humane" seal on meat or dairy you can feel confident there is a good organization out there who has checked on the conditions under which the animals are raised..

I am pleased to see that recently, representatives from this organization appeared on the Dr. Oz show.  This means humane treatement of farm animals is going more mainstream and will reach more people!

Here is a quote from Certified Humane's e mail blast:

"Certified Humane® was recently recommended on the Dr. Oz show. Dr. Oz discussed the latest studies on antibiotic resistance in meat along with his guests, Heather White, Executive Director of the Environmental Working Group and Dr. Urvashi Rangan, Director of Consumer Safety and Sustainability for Consumer Reports.

The study’s findings are staggering. Heather White explained, "If you are buying meat at the supermarket you are likely exposing yourself and your family to superbugs".

Dr. Urvashi Rangan concludes that consumers should avoid antibiotic resistance by purchasing meat products raised without unnecessary antibiotics, like Certified Humane® products. The Certified Humane® label prohibits the use of preventative antibiotics, only allowing them for sick animals"
